Exile publications

Overview

The collection of exile literature includes first editions, successive editions and translations of emigrants' works as well as anthologies to which emigrants have contributed, in addition books that have been edited, translated, illustrated or where the layout was done by emigrants. Furthermore the total of the publications of publishers-in-exile are part of the collection. Also publications of Jewish publishers and organisations issued after 1933 in Germany, Austria or Czechoslovakia are part of the collection as they emerged within the context of "inner exile" and as preparation for emigration. Another part of the collection are camouflage publications intended for illegal activities in Germany that have been written and printed in exile.
