Data Shop - Help

Overview

The Data Shop is a web service aimed at libraries and other customers wishing to obtain bibliographic data.
In Data Shop, registered users can download data they have located in the catalogue of the German National Library for further processing in their own system. The data can be downloaded in a variety of different formats (MARC 21, MARC-21-xml, MABxml, MAB2 disk service format, MAB2 data service format, and a selection of Dublin Core elements - DNB Casual- (oai_dc) and RDFxml (Business model).

This applies both for selections of individual hits and also for entire hit lists. Charges apply for some of these services, depending on the database and the data format requested. Authority data (only available in GND-MARC-21 format) and bibliographic data (in oai_dc and RDF formats) can be accessed free of charge as of 1 July 2012. Bibliographic data in MARC 21 and MAB formats which was bibliographically indexed before 31 December 2010 is also free of charge. Series O bibliographic data is free of charge, irrespective of the chosen format and date of indexing.
Users need to register and obtain authorisation in order to use the Data Shop. Apply for free test access - in a quick and easy process - if you would like to find out more about this service.

At the bottom right you can then click the "Data Shop" button under "Freischaltung beantragen für" ("Apply for activation for"). If relevant, you can then enter details of your company, institution or organisation. If not, you can proceed directly by clicking the "Testkonto beantragen" ("Apply for test account") button. Download metadata

In order to download metadata, users should first enter the catalogue and start a search. Entire search results or individual hits can then be transferred to "eigene Auswahl" (My selection). Return to the Data Shop to download these data records, maximum 10,000 records each download. The individual hits or the entire list of search results from "eigene Auswahl" are shown there. These can then be converted into different data formats and downloaded. Select the individual data records or search results and the desired data format. Click "Auftrag starten" ("Start transaction") to convert the data records. The costs for the data records will then be calculated based on the selected tariff. If you do not have sufficient funds currently available in your account, the data records will not be converted. You can increase the amount by clicking "Konto aufladen" ("Top up account").

The list of jobs already completed and the current job are shown under "Transactions". You can also download the converted data records from there.

Top up account

You can increase the number of data records by topping up your account. Customers receive a list of possible tariffs. The increase is effected immediately if a new price category is chosen. The invoice will be sent to the address given.
