User service for disabled persons
German National Library Leipzig
The German National Library in Leipzig has parking spaces for the disabled right in front of the building. The entrance for the disabled is sign-posted. The reading rooms as well as the cafeteria are accessible via elevator. The washrooms are situated in the basement.
The Library has a magnifying glass for the partially sighted. Following prior arrangement by telephone (+49-341-2271-453), all services of the German National Library can be used at a special workstation for the blind and partially sighted. Enlargement software, speech versions, Braille keyboards and scanners are provided. Guide dogs are allowed.
German National Library Frankfurt am Main
The German National Library in Frankfurt am Main has especially sign-posted parking spaces for the disabled in its underground car park (subject to a charge) and next to the building in the Schlosserstraße. The access from the underground car park to the library's public area is possible by elevator. The main entrance can be easily be reached from the special parking spaces in the Schlosserstraße.
There are toilettes for the disabled on all levels and all reading rooms. The public area (restaurant and cafeteria) is accessible via ramps and/or with elevators.
In the main reading room two tables adjustable in height are available. In the multi-media reading room there is one specially equipped station for the blind and partially sighted.
Guide dogs are allowed.
