Media and information specialists who focus on library work investigate, acquire and catalogue analogue and digital media for our daily growing collection of over 53 million works. In this way, they make this immense repository of knowledge accessible to our users on site and to society at large. They also advise those who borrow and work with the collections, and provide support with public relations and events.

We offer six trainees at our Leipzig site for the 2026 training year. There are currently no trainee positions available at our Frankfurt am Main site.

This cooperative course commences on 1 September every year and lasts three years. Theoretical (vocational) training in Leipzig is organised into blocks and takes place at the Gutenberg School.

Trainees are paid in accordance with the collective wage agreement for trainees in public service.
