Open Day in Frankfurt am Main on 12 November 2023

111 years of the German National Library: We celebrated – you visited us!

Our Open Day attracted huge crowds – at times, there was a long queue of people waiting in front of the building. Some 1,600 visitors seized the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the German National Library in Frankfurt am Main.
There were 69 guided tours that allowed our guests to explore the entire building from the roof to the spacious underground stacks while taking in the reading rooms, the technical facilities, the computer centre and our art collection. We offered insights into our digitisation projects, collection preservation activities, provenance research and worlds of work. A reading room rally, family tours and a creative workshop proved particularly popular with our younger visitors. The concert given by the Leipzig-based folk rock band "The Flood" rounded off a successful day.

Thank you for coming!
