Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB)
- Launched: Online since 2012
- Objective: Free and easy access to cultural objects in digital format, i.e. to millions of books, archive materials, images, sculptures, musical works and other sound documents, films and music scores.
- Role of the German National Library: The German National Library in Frankfurt am Main is in charge of the technology and service areas, with the service point and data management department serving as points of contact for cultural heritage and educational organisations which would like to contribute their own digital holdings to the German Digital Library.
- Additional partners: Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (home of the administrative office), FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure (technical operator) and fifteen other prestigious German cultural institutions (competence network)
