GND – Gemeinsame Normdatei (Integrated Authority File)
- Launched: 2012
- Objective: The (further) development of an authority file for persons, corporate bodies, congresses, geographic entities, specialised terms and works. This above all serves the purpose of cataloguing resources in libraries, but is also increasingly being used by archives, museums, projects and in web applications. To ensure the long-term use and further development of the “Integrated Authority File”, a cooperative was set up in 2017 by the partners named below (“GND Cooperative”).
- Role of the German National Library: GND central office, manages the cooperative’s administrative office. As the central office, the DNB is responsible for operations and coordinating the further development of the GND and its central infrastructure components (GND platform).
