The reading rooms in the main building of the German National Library in Leipzig will close at 14:00 due to an event. The museum reading room, the music reading room and the service area are open until 18.00. The exhibitions of the German Museum of Books and Writing will open from 10:00 to 18:00.

Frankfurt am Main: Repair work telephone system

On 2 May, the Frankfurt site of the German National Library will be unavailable by telephone from 9.30 - 11.30 due to repair work.

ZDB - Zeitschriftendatenbank (German Union Catalogue of Serials)

  • Launched: January 2000
  • Objective: Operate and further develop the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB) as a data hub and bibliographic instrument for collectable serial publications.
  • Role of the German National Library: Since 1 January 2000, the ZDB is operated and maintained jointly by Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage and the German National Library. Berlin State Library is responsible for data processing and editorial design, while the German National Library is responsible for technical development and operation. Further developments are planned cooperatively. The German National Library has been participating in the ZDB since 1 March 2007 and enters all new periodicals and serial publications into the ZDB directly.
