Project description

The aim of the project was to set up a German National Library service with the aim of helping publicly accessible libraries, educational establishments, museums, archives and institutions in the field of film and sound recording heritage in Germany to preserve their digital information on a long-term basis.

During the project period the preservation repository of the German National Library was extended both organizationally and technically to allow partner organisations to use all the necessary functions for operating a trustworthy preservation repository.

The cooperative "AREDO" (archiving and long-term preservation of digital objects) service went into operation at the beginning of 2014 and has been expanded continuously ever since.
