Who is obliged to deposit online publications?

Mandatory deposits must be made by all companies, institutions or persons

• who have the right to distribute the media work or to make it available to the public, i.e. publishing companies, originating authorities or self-publishers, and
  
• whose headquarters, business premises or main residence is located in Germany.

Only persons and organisations which have the right to distribute the online publications (publishing companies, originating authorities, self-publishers) or which have been requested/authorised to make deposits (e.g. distribution departments, hosts) are entitled to deposit these works.
