What does the status “Verification incomplete” (“Prüfung ausstehend”) mean?

If a work features the status “Verification incomplete” (“Prüfung ausstehend”), then the automated comparison against the commercial availability-status indexes of the book trade has not yet been conducted. It may be necessary to repeat the comparison because title information has been amended or updated. A new comparison will be initiated automatically. This is the case, for example, when the name of the author is updated for a work whose author has hitherto remained uncatalogued, or when an erroneous year of publication is corrected.
Many multi-volume works also temporarily feature the status “Verification incomplete” (“Prüfung ausstehend”). Owing to the particularities of bibliographic cataloguing, these works could not as yet be incorporated into the automated comparison process against commercial availability-status indexes.
