Document delivery service
The document delivery service allows users to order black-and-white (hard) copies of essays, articles and extracts from books, scientific journals, periodicals and other documents held by the German National Library. This is possible in cases where the German National Library is the sole documented library in Germany in possession of the resource in question.
The orderer is responsible for checking the ownership documentation:
- in the KVK - Karlsruher Virtual Catalogue for monographs
- in the ZDB - German Union Catalogue of Serials for serial publications, i.e. journals and newspapers
Publications documented as being owned by other libraries in Germany must be ordered through other document delivery services.
As of 1 March 2018, current legislation restricted the direct delivery of documents by the document delivery service to persons in user groups 1 (employees of public institutions), 1a (students, trainees, pupils) and 2 (private persons). This means it is no longer possible to deliver copies for commercial purposes (user group 3).
Paper copies will be delivered within Germany by post or fax, until further notice.
