Dr. Vincent C. Frank-Steiner, who spent his life campaigning for remembrance of the Holocaust and those forced into exile, died in Basel on 6 February 2025. Vincent Frank-Steiner had close ties with the German Exile Archive spanning several decades. He procured numerous collections for the Exile Archive and bequeathed his own archive to the Exile Archive's collection while he was still alive.

Dr. Vincent C. Frank-Steiner was born in Berlin on 19 July 1930 to writer Rudolf Frank and artist Anna Frank-Klein.

In February 1939, the then nine-year-old Vincent Frank was forced to leave Germany to escape Nazi persecution and followed his father to Switzerland, where he spent the rest of his life. This was where he met Martina Steiner, who later became his wife.

Frank-Steiner was an economist by profession and worked intensively on an honorary basis to promote remembrance culture. In 1980, he succeeded Otto Frank as the President of the Anne Frank Fonds in Basel.

Frank-Steiner was dedicated to preserving the memory of his father Rudolf Frank's life and work.

Vincent Frank-Steiner had close ties with the German Exile Archive spanning several decades. He procured numerous collections for the Exile Archive and bequeathed his own archive to the Exile Archive's collection while he was still alive. His commitment helped preserve important documents and memories of German-language exile after 1933.

His tireless efforts to come to terms with the past and his contribution to the preservation of important historical documents will continue to have an impact for a long time to come. He will be missed.
