The Days of Exile aim to bring the issue of exile to the awareness of urban society. The events have been held regularly in Hamburg since 2016. The programme of events and encounters is aimed at the public, and following a joint initiative by the German Exile Archive 1933-1945 and the Körber Foundation, Frankfurt played host for the first time in September 2022. The Exile Archive was able to bring in 29 organisations and institutions in Frankfurt to create the programme. The outcome of this committed partnership was a diverse programme of 40 events on current and historic experiences of exile. The German National Library also hosted four events during Days of Exile. The highlights included the opening event on 1 September 2022 with Days of Exile patron Parastou Forouhar and MRIYA, the founding ensemble of the Ukranian Orchestra in Exile. The closing event on 17 September 2022 with the journalist Can Dündar was another high point.
