The Museum Reading Room and the exhibitions of the German Museum of Books and Writing will be open.

After the aerial bombardment of 1943 and the fire damage suffered by the Deutsche Bücherei, the building is closed for use in January 1944. Around 1.6 million volumes are relocated. The Deutsche Bücherei reopens in November 1945.
